Coronal shock waves observed in images

چکیده
The large-scale coronal shock waves observed from radio type II bursts and from Moreton waves have proven surprisingly difficult to detect in coronal images. I review the evidence for such waves in radio, optical, EUV, and soft X-ray images. The data generally support the conclusion that the metric type II bursts can be identified with weak fast-mode shock waves launched at the impulsive phase of the associated flares. Other coronal waves, well seen by EIT, are more closely related to CMEs.

Shock-related radio emission during coronal mass ejection lift-off? (Research Note)
Aims. We identify the source of fast-drifting decimetric–metric radio emission that is sometimes observed prior to the so-called flare continuum emission. Fast-drift structures and continuum bursts are also observed in association with coronal mass ejections (CMEs), not only flares. Methods. We analyse radio spectral features and images acquired at radio, Hα, EUV, and soft X-ray wavelengths, du...
متن کاملPropagation of shock waves in the solar corona with 2-D loop structures
Motivated by recent observations of type II radio bursts, we study propagation of shock waves by the twodimensional numerical magnetohydrodynamic model. Explosion of a hot plasma is investigated for various ratios of the mass density and magnetic field intensity in a fan of coronal loops. Ducting of shock waves occurs along loop-like structure and ducting of possible radio emission in under-den...

Transversal oscillation of coronal loops that are interpreted as signatures of magneto hydrodynamics (MHD) waves are observed frequently in active region corona loops. The amplitude of this oscillation has been found to be strongly attenuated. The damping of transverse oscillation may be produced by the dissipation mechanism and the wake of the traveling disturbance. The damping of transversal ...
متن کاملOn the Relationship Between a CME Associated Waves Observed on 5 March 2000
We study the relationship between different wave phenomena associated with a coronal mass ejection (CME) observed on 05 Mar. 2000. EIT waves were observed in the images recorded by EIT at 195 Å. The white-light LASCO/C2 images show clear deflection and propagation of a kink along with the CME. Spectroscopic observations recorded by the UVCS reveals excessive line broadening in the two O vi line...
متن کاملExperimental analysis of shock waves turbulence in contractions with rectangular sections
Formation of shock waves has an important role in supercritical flows studies. These waves are often occurring during passage of supercritical flow in the non-prismatic channels. In the present study, the effect of length of contraction wall of open-channel for two different geometries (1.5 m and 0.5 m) and fixed contraction ratio was investigated on hydraulic parameters of shock waves using ex...
